Sometimes, the hardest decisions are the ones that shape us the most. They are leaps of faith we take, even when we know that there is a lot of uncertainty ahead on the path that we have chosen to walk through!

Sometimes, you may find that the road you are trying to take might not even exist, so you hesitate or end up having second thoughts too! But you also feel as if some sort of vision has been put into your mind… It’s something that your heart has been stubborn enough to stay on, and you can't get out of it until you act on it. So you might even have to carve your own path or maybe just shine your own light on a path that has never been lit before!

It is something your heart stubbornly clings to, and no matter how hard you try to ignore it, you keep coming back to it - or randomly stumbling onto it - like that one song you can’t stand but still hum in the shower; or worse, the one that gets stuck in the back of your mind while you’re in the exam room trying to write your paper!!! Personally, I think it’s the Universe’s cheeky way of poking you, like, “Hey, remember how awesome you are? Yes, you are meant to crush this!” It’s all just its sneaky plan to align you with the version of yourself that is destined to nail that vision you can’t stop thinking about.

I can totally say this happened to me because I have seen it play out in real time through the random thoughts I dumped in my journal. I stumbled across something I wrote back in 2023, where I had this vision of starting my own blog. At the time, I didn’t think much of it, and honestly, I forgot about it. Fast forward to the end of 2024, when I was already in the process of launching my blog, I stumbled across that old entry while flipping through my diary. It hit me - I had been carrying this idea all along.

My Journal, My Unintentional Vision Board! ✨
My Journal, My Unintentional Vision Board! ✨

To sum up these two years: it meant letting go of endless “what ifs” - what if I tried harder, what if it could have been this, what if it should have been that. It also meant letting go of people, situations, and the vision I once dreamed of with them. I had to stop convincing myself to believe the lie that I was not good enough. And I am not ashamed to say that six months of therapy sessions were part of the journey too! And believe me, the work on myself continues. But this is the cost of choosing myself over everything else!

It takes a lot of guts to leave something that feels safe and familiar, even when you know it is leading you nowhere. But staying in that comfort zone? It’s like paddling a boat that is tied to the dock - you are putting in the effort, but you are not actually going anywhere!!!

And honestly, there is nothing wrong with sticking to what feels easy - if it still makes you happy, go for it! But what do you do when your heart is just not in it anymore? When every day feels like you are stuck on autopilot, just going through the motions, that’s when you know it is time to shake things up and make a change.

Although the situation that you are in gives you safety and security, you are not what you really feel you are. Your instincts tell you this when you wake up every day, This isn’t where I am meant to be. It's an itch until you act on it. But even then, the thought of stepping out terrifies you - and that’s just your body and brain doing their job, trying to keep you safe. That’s how we are wired! So, we believe in our fears and stay put. That is, until the situation becomes so unbearable that we are eventually forced to get out of it. But why waste all that time when your gut already knows you will have to make that hard decision sooner or later? Just make it sooner. That way, you will get to where you are supposed to be faster.

At first, you might struggle - after all, it is an unfamiliar situation you have never faced before. But as the dust settles, you will find yourself cherishing every moment of the journey. And the best part? You won’t have any regrets about not doing something when you had the chance. When the Universe puts something into your mind, when you see yourself in it every day, it's there for a reason. Even if it means making a tough decision to pursue it, do it. Do it no matter what. Yes, you might lose a lot in the process, but it will only be the things that weren’t right for you anyway. You will shed them like dead skin. And when you do? You will feel alive!

So, what about you? Is there a tough decision you have been avoiding? Take a moment - go on, reflect. What is holding you back? What would happen if you took that leap? Maybe today is the day you stop overthinking and just take that leap. Who knows? You might even thank yourself later.

I have made plenty of hard decisions along the way. Through them, I learned how to break the cycle. I realized that to get different results, I had to try something I had never done before. Responding to the same situation in the same way will always lead to the same outcome. Most importantly, I learned to trust my gut instincts and stop ignoring what they were trying to tell me.

There is this line from the book It Ends With Us that really sticks with me: In the end, either we break the pattern, or the pattern breaks us. And you know what? It couldn’t be more true. If the pattern isn’t serving you, I hope you find the guts to break it and make that decision. You have got this!❤️
